Revisit - Protech Masterpiece

Found sample in hall of the Masterpiece with new logo. We stop using it quite a number of years ago.

One of my regular's playing with a group using the Masterpiece tells me they typically use 3 shuttles for a moderate game eg 30-40% of the shots were smashes

  1. Hi.. Protech Masterpiece is also our favourite, but the escalating price and drop in quality makes it hard to stay with this brand/model. What will be your new favourite, in comparison to the Masterpiece?

    1. We stop using Masterpiece in late 2009. The quality of the Masterpiece shuttles then was atleast equal to the current Yonex AS30 of today.

Hence if you are talking of the equivalent value for $ for my experience using Masterpiece, you should by the Yonex AS30 or AS40, RSL Ulitmate, RCL Black range, and, the alike.

If you are have been using the Masterpiece AFTER 2009, then you can consider RCL Black No1 which I quite like.

TIP: Take out the shuttles and leave in a non-aircond room for about 30min before usage for better durability.

    2. Thanks very much for your advice. I do agree that the Masterpiece dropped in quality, but overall, the quality of shuttles are quite consistent (as compared to others that we've tried) We are still continuing on Masterpiece, but with the Malaysian ringgit at its saddest state, I am thinking of looking for other cheaper alternatives. But of coz with the same consistent quality of shuttles. I have one player in the group that trashes the shuttles like it's free. So, with players like that who don't know how to take care of the shuttle while playing, I am seriously thinking of opting for a cheaper alternative, that has decent durability, with excellent flight

    5. I was about to ask the same thing.. Thanks for your advice! My group is currently using Protech World Class, same issue, escalating price but dropping of quality. May I know where do you usually buy your shuttles?

    6. Previously used to buy from JB. Nowadays I buy direct from the brand owner and the shuttles are shipped to my doorstep (roughly the same total cost if have to go JB eg cab fares, GST). Time saving is the big plus. Minus is don't get to enjoy the good food in JB

    7. Wow, that's convenient! As we play weekly, we use around 10-12 tubes every 2 months. Not sure if you able to hook me up with the brand owner?

    8. Need to buy in-bulk, otherwise more expensive than going JB. No longer using Protech (for past few years) as the brand owner is not open to the idea. Hence may not be suitable for your group preference
