Fleet Gold

A few years ago, I 1st came across the Fleet Gold shuttle when the group playing next to us were using them.

Since then we have adopted it as one of our backup choices if stocks of our de facto standard are not available at the shops.

The Fleet Gold is quite durable with predictable flight characteristics. It provides a nice feel when hit. The shuttle is a bit heavier than norm. For instance when I placed 8 shuttles on a non-digital weighting scale, it was heavier than the same number of our de facto standard by an estimated 5-6g.

  1. Tried the Fleet Gold recently and must say the quality is not as good as before.

Previously players would comment the feel was sharp and crisp when smashed aka felt good when playing with it.

Recent feedback were not as complimentary as before. The last batch we used in mid-2013 were sluggish after a few minutes and not durable at all.

After a game I would normally review the condition of the used shuttles aka spot check them. For the last batch of Fleet Gold used, I found many of the shuttlecocks with a lob-sided rib-cage after the games.

Hence we will not be purchasing any more of the Fleet Gold shuttles in the future.
