Previously we purchased 4 tubes to try out the shuttles, as some of my regulars had used the birdie elsewhere and were happy with it.

We discovered quality of the shuttles were extremely dependant on the batch. The good were Superb whilst the bad was TRULY BAD!

On the bad night, we ended up using both tubes - a record for us! We normally use 14-16 shuttles for 16 players playing on 2 courts, each court for 2 hrs.

Hence we will not be purchasing any more of these shuttles in the future.

Fleet Gold

A few years ago, I 1st came across the Fleet Gold shuttle when the group playing next to us were using them.

Since then we have adopted it as one of our backup choices if stocks of our de facto standard are not available at the shops.

The Fleet Gold is quite durable with predictable flight characteristics. It provides a nice feel when hit. The shuttle is a bit heavier than norm. For instance when I placed 8 shuttles on a non-digital weighting scale, it was heavier than the same number of our de facto standard by an estimated 5-6g.

Protech Platinum Edition

Joined a group who bought a tube of the the Protech Platinum Edition for their weekly game.

This is suppose to be the primo model  (since most expensive from Protech??)

I do not have a pix of the shuttle cork structure but the pix of this model are as per below - pix from internet.

From holding it, the weight of the shuttle seem closer to the Fleet Platinum, than say the Fleet Gold.

Comments from the group I joined today includes good for smashing and not durable for rallies. The tail feathers of the shuttle seems half-snap after a few hits e.g tip at feather ends break closer to the end of a feather. However one of my regulars advises this model of shuttlecock lasts long for his games with another group.

Protech PT-10, Masterpiece and World Class

Our previous favourite was the Masterpiece, as it was good value for money. Quality has since gone downhill. If you play smashing games the rib structure will give way (aka soften) and the shuttle starts to wobble. Otherwise the Masterpiece is should be adequate for most games. In the past, I introduced the Masterpiece to a few groups. One group was previously using Sintec shuttles had to change shuttles after just a few smashes. I gave them a sample to try for a game - it lasted the game and still appeared new!!! Another group was using Victor No:1 - my sample lasted 3 games vs their shuttle which lasted just 1 or 2 smashes! Recent feedback from other groups I contact advised nowadays the quality control has improved but yet to achieve quality of the past.

PT-10 is a product from the local Singapore Protech agent and not available elsewhere. Believe it is similar to the Classic Pro after using both models. Feedback from the group is the PT-10 is good though expensive. Personally I never like the PT-10 as it tends to go faster & faster as the game progresses.

The World Class is one of the more expensive Protech models. It has flight characteristics similar to the RSL(s) thou not as prefect. Durability is much better than the RSL(s). It does not seem to be a popular model in Singapore as not usually available in the shops.

Cork structure seem to be the same for these models. Hence difference must be in the quality of the feathers.

Protech PT-20

The PT-20 is exclusive to Protech Singapore, as per PT-10.

Have not played with the model before and am curious as to why the samples I obtained from a nearby local hall has two broken feathers on both shuttles?

The PT-20 has a 3-layer cork structure.

 

Sealion C1101 (Black & White)

Have not played with the following model and found the sample in one of the badminton halls I frequent.

We have tried the Sealion C1101 in Gold and Green tube just over 2 weeks ago. Feedback from my regulars was not  positive for the Sealion in the Gold and Green tube.
